Recently acquiring the greyhound Silver Man from owner Xian Cheng, the son of Fernando Bale rocketed up the Healesville straight on Monday afternoon in 19.21s. It was his first start for James and Chloe.
The greyhound is no stranger, however, to the track at Temora after two recent trials.
James is one of Australia's leading greyhound broadcasters and is looking forward to pitting Silver Man with some of the Riverina's best sprinters.
"We were happy with our dogs trial at Warragul last week his run home time was really strong and that puts him in great shape for Temora," Van De Maat said.
A 31 per cent win ratio suggests to the trained eye that Silver Man will be right in contention for the Temora Cup.
Trainers of the like off Dennis Barnes, Paul Braddon, Scott Broad and Brian Smith have all recently trialed at the track preparing for Sunday nights heats.
Three meetings at Temora will be held in seven days with the Cup Final on Sunday, March 8.
