More than 100 racers from seven years of age to above 70 will converge on Grenfell Kart Club on March 14 and 15.
Two days of non-stop racing action will be highlighted by Sunday's finals and awards presentation.
Grenfell Kart Club committee member and racer Anthony Brown encourages people to come along to spectate.
"Racers can get up to 100km/hr whilst sitting as low as two centimetres from the ground. It's a great opportunity for people to come out to the track and watch something different, its free to spectate and a canteen is available." Anthony said.
Junior drivers will compete in age and performance divisions while there's various class divisions for seniors.
Three heats in each class division will be held on Saturday before a fourth heat and final on Sunday.
Each heat will consist of 11 laps and a final of 17 laps of the 670m Grenfell track.
Grenfell is one of the oldest tracks in the state and has the longest consecutive track licence in NSW.
The club on average hosts about 7 events throughout the year including the annual round of the Southern Stars Series.
Anthony said the Kart Club is an asset to the Grenfell community.
"We estimate that around 1500 people which are involved in karting visit Grenfell each year throughout the season. We also encourage all patrons to support the local Grenfell Community with accommodation, food/retail and fuel sales which is a big boost to the local economy," he said
Anthony said the Grenfell Kart Club is aiming to secure government funding for track upgrades and expand facilities in an effort to attract bigger events.
"We are currently in the application process for requesting government funding for a track re-surface and future plans for track extensions, upgraded amenities, canteen, and track lights for night racing; which is becoming more and more popular. With these upgrades in effect; we would expect more people to attend our events and Karting NSW would offer us national and possibly international race meets. Which evidently is additionally boosting the local community economically. We are not just in it for the karting community, but supporting the local community as well.
About 15 locals are expected to feature in round two of the Southern Star Series.
Other rounds are raced at Dubbo, Canberra, Orange and Griffith throughout the 10 month season.
Those interested in the sport are urged to attend or get in contact with Grenfell Kart Club.
"Competitive karting is becoming a more popular sport. It is a great social community, and it's friendly and extremely family orientated. Karting is the first step into a motorsport career and if you or your child is interested feel free to ask us about how to to get started."
