IGA NSW and ACT named its annual Excellence Awards winners late last week with the ceremony unable to go ahead.
Donges Supa IGA picked up a new award this year winning SUPA IGA Meat Department of the Year, IGA Customer Service and Experience Award.
As there was no ceremony held the awards have been distributed to store teams on behalf of Metcash Food NSW/ACT general manager Jason McLean and Metcash Food NSW/ACT Sales and Operations manager Ashley Thompson.
Mr McLean said he was extremely impressed with the caliber of entrants for this year's annual awards.
"Once again we've been blown away by the outstanding quality of entries this year in New South Wales and the ACT," Mr McLean said.
"These stores have gone over and above to provide a standout store for their local communities, and these awards are testament to their passion, hard work and commitment they have in delivering a personalised shopping experience for their customers."
Chair of the NSW/ACT IGA State Board Terry Karkazis believes it is stores like Donges Supa IGA who are the heart of communities.
"Local grocers lie at the heart of our communities as they work in the background to do everything they can for their local area," Ms Karkazis said.
"Whether that be tailoring their product offering to their local catchments, supporting local farmers or stocking local suppliers."
Ms Karkazis not only wanted to congratulate Donges Supa IGA and the other award winners but wanted to acknowledge their hard work in local communities.
"These annual awards are set up to honour and recognise the hard work each and every store puts in daily, and I'd like to extend my congratulations to the awarded stores," she said.
