Now, they're not sure when the first game will be and organised training sessions have been suspended until at least May 1.
NSWRL this week announced tight restrictions for community rugby league amid coronavirus concerns.
Frustrated coach Nick Hall said his side was approaching peak performance.
He said the club is taking the restrictions "very seriously". He added that he's looking for ways to motivate his players to train alone.
"A lot of the boys were training and looking as good as they ever have. There was some good vibes. If it's a few weeks or a month it sucks a bit, but if we lose a whole season it'll be awful," Hall said.
"We're going to have team talk soon somewhere outside. We're taking this seriously, our players have families and jobs and they need to know we're taking this very seriously. As a coach, I'm looking for opportunities for how to motivate the players to train alone. There's still people going to the gym, I know a few of the players are doing that. But there'll be no organised sessions. It's really weird, we can't train together and we can't access the oval together.
"We're still building. The players are all still here. There's lots of texts and emails going around encouraging training and staying in touch. We'll organise a few things. If you see the Cherrypickers out doing a road run give them a cheer," he said.
Looking ahead, Hall said it might be dangerous for players to begin the Group Nine season as soon as May 1 rolls around, following weeks of social distancing.
He thinks the players will need time to train and resume physical contact.
"If you lose a month you might need a week or two before you start. If you lose two months it'd be too dangerous to get straight back into it, you might need a month to train," he said.
"Hopefully this ends and we can start training in a few weeks and start playing at the beginning of May.
"It is frustrating. But, also, there's life and work as well which is more important. This is peoples livelihoods. There's bigger things in life than footy."
