Hennessy Catholic College and St Mary's Primary School returned to work on Tuesday with Monday a pupil free day, while the public schools across the region returned on Wednesday with two pupil free days to start off the week.
Young Public School principal Edwina Wymer said that phase 0 - learning from home, would be in place for Week 1 and Week 2 of the term with students resuming home learning from Wednesday.
"Please remember home learning is not six hours a day," Mrs Wymer said.
Instead children should complete the assigned work throughout the day with the students encouraged to take breaks and keep active.
"Week 3 (Phase 1) - students will begin one day per week," Mrs Wymer said.
During this phase parents and students are asked to not congregate at school during pick up or drop off.
"A kiss and drop approach is being advised."
Mrs Wymer encourages parents to contact herself or Mrs Kirkwood through the school if they have any concerns or questions.
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke last week reassured parents that it is safe for students to return to school.
"I want to reassure all parents that the safety and wellbeing of their children and school communities has been the most important consideration in making this decision," Ms Cooke said.
"This phased and flexible approach aims to bring schools back to normal slowly and remain responsive to any changes in the COVID-19 situation across the state.
"It allows schools the flexibility to implement this in a way that works best for the entire school community."
