Young District Cricket Association has taken out the 2020 Cricket NSW Association of the Year prize. A completely new committee took the reins for the 2019/2020 season and have been acknowledged for their hard work.

Some achievements include lifting participation in the Woolworths Blast Cricket program by 50 per cent, holding a Pink Stumps Day for mental health awareness and fundraising for the Jane McGrath Foundation in January, and maintaining 100 per cent presence in schools across the region.

Southern Inland NSW cricket manager Michael Minns congratulated the committee and says he's looking forward to working closely with them in the future.

"The fact that there was so much turnover of the committee speaks volumes for the work that they have put in. I am extremely excited to see what the association can achieve in the next couple of seasons. I greatly look forward to assisting in any way that I can to continue cricket thriving in Young and its surrounding regions.

"I would particularly like to thank both Nigel Hall [president] and Barb Cusack [secretary] for your continued support throughout the year, and Geoff Palmer for his fantastic efforts in running a brilliant Woolworths Cricket Blast program. This is a fantastic result for the community and I am extremely proud to see what has been achieved already, with lot's more I'm sure to come."

As a result of winning the Cricket NSW Association of the Year award, Young District Cricket Association is now nominated for the Cricket Australia 'A Sport For All' Awards.
