The Member for Cootamundra on Thursday announced the Club had secured a $10,000 Sports Grant, which will be used to install solar panels on existing structures at the facility.

Steph Cooke said the project was an innovative way for the club to reduce their operating costs.

"It's fantastic to see what the Grenfell Go-Kart Club has planned for this funding as they look to the future of their club," Ms Cooke said.

"Sport is such a vital part of our communities and in bringing us all together, congratulations to the Club on this grant."

Vice President of the Grenfell Go Kart Club George Thompson said the Sports Grant was a huge boost to the club.

"We're very happy to be getting this funding because it will be saving the club some money which we can put into upgrading other facilities. Part of our future plans involve renewing the track surface and upgrading the toilet facilities and showers," Mr Thompson said.

"With these solar panels we're going to be pretty well energy self-sufficient" he added.

"Drought, bushfires and now the COVID-19 pandemic have created significant uncertainty for sport in NSW, particularly in regional areas," Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said. "People in the bush love sport and this money will be a massive boost for regional sporting organisations, which not only help our communities stay active and healthy but also perform a vital role keeping people connected."
