A report endorsing the recommendation to cancel Young's 71st National Cherry Festival, Cherry Blossom Lazy Lunch, the Boorowa Irish Woolfest and Harden Kite Festival will be put before councillors for determination on Wednesday.
The report, from council's general manager Anthony O'Reilly, states that committees for each event have concerns for the health and safety of communities, volunteers, committees and staff due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Fifty per cent of marketing budgets for each event is recommended to go towards increasing visitation to the region and updating event websites, while 50 per cent of the entertainment and services budget for the National Cherry Festival is recommended to go towards hosting COVID-safe activities including markets and a big breakfast on Saturday, December 5.
Council hasn't called for sponsorship and would need to cover approximately $180,000 if the events go ahead, according to the report.
