FORECASTERS said there would be rain and it certainly bucketed down for some towns in the region across the weekend.

Widespread rain was recorded while some locations including Dubbo, Tullamore and Peak Hill received a hail storm on Sunday.

The usually dry Dubbo received by far the most rainfall since Friday with 38.0 millimetres recorded by the end of the weekend.

Combined with rainfall already received this month, it means the city's July rainfall total of 39.2mm is sitting just under the long-term median for the month of 39.9mm.

Mudgee also received good rainfall since Friday with 35.6mm recorded, with the July total of 36.4mm also just below the media for the month of 41.9mm.

Other rainfall tallies since Friday were 17.4mm for Wellington, 15.2mm for Young and 13.6mm for Forbes.

The tally in Parkes is 10.8 for the three days, however, Bureau of Meteorology data is missing from midnight until 9am on Sunday.

Other centres in the region didn't receive as much rain, they included: Cowra (7.8mm), Lithgow (7.4mm), Orange (7.0mm), Bathurst (6.4mm) and Oberon (2.6mm).

Rain is continuing across Monday in some towns in the region.
