On Wednesday, July 22, about 2.45pm police, ambulance and Young's NSW Fire and Rescue unit responded to a collision at the roundabout at the intersection of Zouch Street and Lovell Street, Young. Police say a silver Hyundai driven north by an 84-year-old Grenfell woman failed to give way and collided with a second vehicle on the roundabout.The silver Hyundai then accelerated and crashed into a nearby wall of a restaurant. Neither driver was injured. The 84-year-old woman returned a negative breath test.
Police say they'll be making inquiries with Roads and Maritime Services before taking appropriate action.
On Friday, July 24 about 6pm, a 50-year-old man from Mawson, ACT was driving west on Murringo Road about 10km west of Boorowa when he allegedly lost control of the vehicle and hit a tree.
Emergency services were contacted and attended. The man was taken to Young Hospital with injuries not considered life threatening. Police are investigating further. On Sunday, July 26, about 4.50pm emergency services responded to a crash on the Olympic Highway south of Young.
Police say a 19-year-old man from Young was driving north towards Young from Wombat when he overtook a second vehicle legally on broken lines, left the roadway and drove into a ditch.
The driver was breath tested and returned a negative result. There were no injuries.
Two ponies were involved in a crash on Murringo Road during the early hours of Monday morning, July 27.
About 4.10am, police were called to the scene of an incident on Murringo Road about one kilometre west of Wambanumba Drive where two ponies had been hit by a vehicle. Police say a pair of ponies were running along the road while the driver of the vehicle was travelling east and couldn't stop in time to avoid colliding with both ponies. Police attended and found one pony dead and the second was found with injured left front and rear legs. A local vet attended and treated the second pony.
