According to the Bureau of Meteorology the past winter was the sixth warmest on record with average temperatures over a degree hotter than usual.
"Winter was the sixth-warmest on record for Australia, with the mean temperature 1.15 °C above average," a Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson said.
"The national mean maximum temperature was the third-warmest on record for August at 1.60 °C above average, while the mean minimum temperature was 0.70 °C warmer than average."
It's hard to tell without definitive proof from BoM with the thermometer sensors malfunctioning last week, however going off of other sources last Sunday was the warmest day throughout winter with some locals reporting they recorded around 19°C.
The coldest recorded temperature over winter was in August when the mercury dipped to -5.1°C on Thursday August 6.
According to the August data from the Bureau of Meteorology showed the average minimum temperature for the month was 3°C and the average maximum temperature for the month was 12.7°C.
The BoM said the average maximum temperatures were "above or very much above average across" eastern and northern NSW.
Despite the average daily temperatures being higher than usual the BoM said that there were also several record breaking cold days.
"Despite being a very warm winter overall, there were a scattering of record-cool days or nights," a Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson said.
"During the first week of August a significant cold outbreak affected much of southern Australia."
So what can Young expect in Spring?
Well according to the Bureau the region can expect a wetter September to November than previous years.
"September to November is likely to be wetter than average across much of Australia, - greater than 60 percent chance in most areas, greater than 75 percent in much of the eastern half of the mainland," the spokesperson said.
Warmer temperatures are also predicted over the same period across the region.
