The team of Judith Mulligan, Heather Bailey, Elsie Hines and Margaret Gailey were defeated by the team of Robyn Tierney, Margaret Glasheen, Julie Alavoine and Judy Watson 18-14.
The other two teams competing were Honor Stollery, Jenny Holt, Kathryn Betcher and Margo Parker who were narrowly defeated by Therese Ruhl, Jill Rosen, Sheila Traynor and Kate Cooper 19/18.
On Thursday, October 1, the final was played. While Judy Watson's team had a lead of five shots after the third end, they only managed to win another three shots in the 21 ends played.
Kate's team had a convincing win of 30/10. Congratulations to Therese, Jill, Sheila and Kate. Jill was particularly excited as this was the first winning finals team she had been a part of.
While the Fours final was being played, six women had a social game of 'turn- around- triples'. Five ladies from Harden plus Elsie Hines from Young enjoyed their afternoon of bowls. Pat Walker, Joan, and Elsie Hines had a win over June Brownhill, Chris Hancock and Robyn Apps 20/10.
On Sunday of the long weekend, Young Bowling Club held an Open Nominated Pairs event. Twelve teams participated playing two games of 10 ends.
Five of the 12 teams won both their games. Damian Miller and Margo Parker won with a margin of 24, with runners-up (after a count-back) being Albert Carter and Joe Bargwanna with a margin of 17.
Kathryn Betcher and Margo Parker are playing at Condobolin in the Regional Open Pairs play-off this week along with Kate Cooper and Jenny Holt who will contest the Senior Pairs as well. We wish them the very best of luck and good bowling.
The SW District Mixed Pairs Championships will be played at Cootamundra Country Club this coming Saturday, October 10 after several postponements mainly due to weather. Hopefully the competition will be played this time.
