Cherrypickers announce first major signings of 2020
In early January this year, the Young Cherrypickers announced their first major signings ahead of the 2020 Group Nine season.
Group 10 premiership winner Blake Hewitt also committed for another season after signing on before the 2019 campaign.
Inoke Vunipola to add more size to Young's pack
During March, Young added in some more fire power to their forward pack with Inoke Vunipola linking with the club.
After moving to Australia when he was six, Vunipola came through junior ranks with the Roosters SG Ball and under 20s sides.
He's played NSW Cup with Wyong before heading to Mounties, Burwood and then Wentworthville, where he has spent the last three seasons.
Josh McCrone links with Young out of Super League
Young in August pulled off another stunning signing coup with Josh McCrone playing the remainder of the season. The Temora product was captain of the Toronto Wolfpack in their first season in the English Super League and played alongside Sonny Bill Williams in 2020.
However after they withdrew from the competition due to the impact of COVID-19 the 33-year-old is currently in hotel quarantine with his young family and will link with the Cherrypickers for the last three games of the Group Nine season.
Nick Hall names 'Pickers side for Group Nine round one
Fans of the Young Cherrypickers were keen to see the round one line up.
Coach Nick Hall said, at the time, it's an exciting time.
"I think like every other side we haven't had enough time to do what we need to do to be ready but I'm very excited about getting together and starting, I'm excited about the standard of the opposition this year," Nick Hall said.
Sing brothers make Canberra's Harold Matthews squad
Sing siblings Brock and Clay have secured spots in Canberra Raiders' Harold Matthews under 16s squad for the upcoming 2020 season.
The 22-player squad was named on Tuesday this week.
Cherrypickers first grade coach Nick Hall, who has witnessed the brothers progress through the junior grades in Young, said he wasn't shocked by the exciting news.
"They're great lads. I'm not surprised at all because they're very talented players," he said.
