Greenethorpe may be a small village, however it's strength lies in farming, in particular, crops and this year was a complete turn around on the last few years with the local silos saying they have had the biggest harvest in nearly 20 years.

"Despite the crazy weather in November and December it was the biggest harvest delivered to Greenethorpe since 2000," Greenethorpe Silo site managers Steve White and Kel Veney told Around and About Greenethorpe.

According to the pair around 23,000 tonnes of canola and 36,000 tonnes of wheat were delivered to the silos during the 2020 harvest.
"Thirteen dedicated staff members were able to keep the silos open and the trucks moving steadily most days, weather allowing," they said.
"The silos and bunkers were all at capacity. Grain was also stored on farm and delivered to other facilities in the area making the harvest even bigger.
"Thanks to all involved in last year's harvest for their consideration and cooperation," they wrote.
