Last year was a challenging one for committees, with the onset of COVID-19 limiting the ability to meet in person.
In 2021, the LHACs will look forward to meeting face to face once again, using appropriate protocols around social distancing, but also embracing the use of technology to be able to connect.
Interested members of the community are being invited to attend upcoming open meetings in Young and Harden.
"We encourage anyone interested in advocating for better health in the community to come along and find out more about how you can be involved," said Community Engagement Manager Setchen Brimson.
"We have around 300 LHAC members across the District. Each LHAC represent their town's health interests, needs and concerns and develop their own unique way of addressing these in their local communities."
LHACs were formed in 2012 to provide an avenue for consumer feedback and advocacy for the public health service.
Today, the role of LHACs has evolved to incorporate primary health care as well as involvement in health service planning and development.
"The key to being a good advocate is the ability to have your finger on the pulse of your local community and the ability to represent these community needs and concerns when you're at the discussion table," said Ms Brimson.
"We are looking for people from all walks of life to be involved and encourage anyone with the time and passion to make a difference to express their interest."
