These upgrades include the installation of a concrete rendered wall known as a moon gate wall, a new amenities building near the existing carpark area, and the replacement of the existing irrigation system within the garden.
The works will also see the demolition of the existing aging toilet block following completion of the new amenities building. Works have commenced and are expected to be completed in the second half of 2021.
"While the garden remains open to the public during construction, there may be some minor disruptions to visitors while works are undertaken. Visitors to the site are asked to observe safety and signage," a council spokesperson said.
