Ricardo Barone visited the aged care residence on Tuesday morning, the day after World Music Day.
His performance, his first at Mercy Place St Joseph's, left many residents with tears in their eyes.
To "break the ice", as he put it, Ricardo played a number of Aussie songs, like Waltzing Matilda, before treating the audience to a few of his own songs during the hour-long concert.
"Everyone was singing along. It was beautiful. Then I played some more instrumental stuff and something of mine as well. It was very intense for me. I could hear there were some people crying; they were moved. It was beautiful."
Ricardo, originally from Italy, is new to Young having moved to town about a month ago from Adelaide.
"I love it here," he said.
He'd like to return to Mercy Place.
"For me, this type of concert has the most meaning. Touching the heart and the emotions of the audience; it's mandatory for a performer really. The heart and touching deep emotions; that's when you think 'that's my best'."
