Hilltops Council has been trying to get works rolling since 2018 when a plan for the exciting new playspace was included as part of the Burrangong Creek revitalisation project.
Fresh tenders were then invited.
A statement from Hilltops Council was released on Wednesday saying works will commence Thursday.
Council's general manager Anthony O'Reilly said he was aware community members have been waiting to see this project begin.
"This exciting project is being funded by the state government and I thank Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke for her ongoing advocacy and support of this project.
"I know the community have been waiting to see work commence so I thank everyone for their patience and very much look forward to the official opening later in the year.
"Playgrounds provide a great sense of community, and this truly inclusive design will ensure that no one misses out on the opportunity for social interaction and fun."
The statement said the old playground will be demolished once the contractor arrives on site.
"Council's contractor will be on site delivering the project, which is expected to be completed in time for residents and visitors to enjoy the playground over the summer months," the statement said.
"The concept design for the exciting new inclusive playspace aims to provide an inclusive play experience and offers a range of play options for all to enjoy.
"Once the contractor arrives on site the old playground will be closed off and demolition will commence."
Council has allocated $518,000 to the Burrangong Creek beautification project, which includes the inclusive playground, in the 2021/22 budget.
