Essential Energy are investigating an unexpected power outage near Young on Thursday afternoon.
About 1000 homes and businesses have been left without power.
Essential Energy are yet to provide an estimated time power returns.
The area impacted since about 1.34pm stretches from Koorawatha down to Murringo, and includes Bendick Murrell, Wirrimah, Greenethorpe and Monteagle.
Operations Manager, Riverina Slopes, Shawn Eade said a supply restoration time was unknown.
"Essential Energy crews are responding to a power outage affecting 1,014 customers in Bendick Murrell, Koorawatha, Murringo and surrounding areas," he said.
"Network protection equipment activated at 1.34pm after detecting a fault on the high voltage electricity network.
"Local Essential Energy crews have been dispatched to fault find on the network. The cause of the power outage is thought to be from the heavy rain experienced in the area.
"A supply restoration time is currently unknown."
