The Favero family conducted a café known as Thoms Corner, at West Wyalong, before moving to Young during 1939.
At the outbreak of WWII, John Favero who was a member of the Light Horse Brigade was selected to be an interpreter to the Italian prisoners of war.
In 1946 he purchased the California Café in Boorowa street at Young and advertised in the local press of January 1946 THAT THEY HAD SOLD the California Café to Mr and Mrs Wilson of Wagga Wagga.
On 1 July 1968, the Favero family, headed by John Snr. relocated their business, which had been established in Boorowa street 21 years earlier in 1947, as a fruit shop.
The new store was located on the (NW) corner of Main and Short streets, where W. Hayes and later his son Stan Hayes, had conducted a grocery store for many years.
This business was known as Favero's Food Fair, and was a grocery and general store for many years and operated until the business closed in 1977.

Brian was educated at the Christian Brothers Collage, Young as were his siblings.
His first job was with the Commonwealth Bank at Young before returning to the family business in 1958.
He was an active member of the Young Lions Club from its inception.
He was a past President and Secretary of the Young Cherry Festival Committee and Young Chamber of Commerce.
Brian entered local government at Young at age 27.
He served as an Alderman, then as Deputy Mayor and then a couple of terms as Mayor.
Brian later moved to Wagga Wagga and joined the Insurance Industry and was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for Service to the Communities of Young and Wagga Wagga.
