EARLIER: Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke has said that the whole Hilltops LGA will go into lockdown from 6pm tonight.
The message from Ms Cooke said:
I have just been advised moments ago by the Health Minister and NSW Chief Health Officer that a decision has been taken to place the Hilltops LGA into a 7-day lockdown, from 6pm tonight, as a result of a confirmed positive COVID case announced this morning.
I appreciate that will come as a blow to many with school holidays upon us, and the small amount of time that we have been able to enjoy out of the recent Statewide lockdown. I especially recognise the impact this will have on small business owners.
However, in response to the COVID case and the fact that there are others under investigation at this time, with contact tracing teams working hard to identify venues of concern, a 7-day lockdown was decided in order to protect the community and safeguard against further spread of COVID in Young and Hilltops more broadly.
I will post again later today in more detail about the rules for the lockdown, but they will be the same the previous lockdown, with the same stay-at-home rules applying for the 7-day period, from 6pm tonight.
I will also post the venues of concern as soon as I receive official advice.
I am posting this now, ahead of the formal announcement by the Minister (and only minutes after I found out) to give everyone as much notice as possible.
I'll update the community again this afternoon, when more information comes to hand.
Stay safe and kind regards.
Steph
