"Two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 are being cared for at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital. They will be reported in the NSW Health numbers tomorrow. Both cases are from outside of the Murrumbidgee region," a MLHD spokesperson said.

Locals are quietly optimistic that the flatline of cases will mean the area will be able to finish up its second week of lockdown after recording a total of 17 cases over the past two weeks.

An announcement on if the lockdown will be lifted is expected to be made on Thursday at some stage.

The NSW Government also announced an easing in restriction around visitors in aged care facilities.

"From 11 October, two visitors per day aged 12 years and over will be permitted to visit an aged care facility if they are fully vaccinated," Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced on Wednesday morning.

"NSW Health will continue to work with the aged care sector to develop COVID-safe plans to support children under 12 years of age to visit aged care facilities in due course."

Locals are warned that if they are directed to get tested for COVID19 or self-isolate at any time, you must follow the rules whether or not the venue or exposure setting is listed on the NSW Health website.

"It remains vital that anyone who has any symptoms or is a close or casual contact of a person with COVID-19, isolates and is tested immediately," Ms Berejiklian said.

"When testing clinics are busy, please ensure you stay in line, identify yourself to staff and tell them that you have symptoms or are a contact of a case."

Please check the NSW Government website regularly, and follow the relevant health advice if you have attended a venue of concern or travelled on a public transport route at the same time as a confirmed case of COVID-19.
