Lion Jan Foreman awarded the Melvin Jones Fellowship:
Jan's consistent commitment to Lions goes back around 20 years in addition to the years prior when assisting her late husband Doug with his Lions activities.
Jan has been a fixture at Lions events over those years, whether catering at Farmers Markets, Harness Meetings or Clearing Sales.
Youth of the Year has been an important project that Jan has overseen for many years along with the annual Deb of the Year Ball.
There would rarely be a Lion supported event without Jan's involvement.
The Melvin Jones Fellowship is awarded by Lions International to Jan for her dedication and service to the Young community.
The following two awards are from the 20/21 year of immediate Past President, Geoff Freudenstein.
Lion Heather Miller awarded the President's Award:
Heather has only been a member for a little over a year and has taken on many projects with enthusiasm and determination.
One initiative that Heather and a small group of Lions has assisted with is "Link with a Lion".
They organise outings, keep in contact with elderly citizens who have limited opportunity for social contact, particularly in these times of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their group is expanding with a newsletter helping to keep everyone in touch.
Lion Dennis Foster named the Lion of the Year:
Dennis has been a Lion for 38 years.
His involvement with Lions has been consistent over those years, holding the position of Treasurer at Young for around 13 years, with a break as President for two years, back in 18/19 and 19/20.
Dennis serves the community in other organisations in addition to Lions but as Past President Geoff said in his presentation - "Dennis was always ready to help, at a moment's notice."
