Mrs Lamb is currently at Southern Cross Care in Young and will be joined both in person and virtually by her family as she passes the milestone.
Joyce Lamb (nee Thomas) was born on the 28th of October 1921 and grew up and attended school in Ungarie.
On leaving school Joyce went nursing at West Wyalong, Lake Cargelligo, and then Sydney during WWII.
She was in Sydney when the Japanese midget subs entered the Harbour.
When WWII finished Joyce married Bill Lamb and settled in Ungarie where they started their family.
Shortly after they purchased "Oakleaf" near Ungarie where Bill had been share farming.
In 1963 they purchased and moved to "Clonmel" at Maimuru where they farmed until retiring and moved to Young.
Joyce threw herself into her passion of spinning and weaving and took out many awards both locally and interstate.
After Bill's death Joyce was able to live independently until the age of 95 when she entered Southern Cross Care where she is comfortable and well cared for.
COVID has made it hard on all including staff and visitors alike and she will only have two visitors in person for her 100th.
Other family and friends are staggering visits so it will be an extended birthday.
Joyce has 41 surviving family including 5 children, 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.
Mrs Lamb has had an amazing life indeed.
