The Race of Stars is an invitation only event held each year to highlight local kart racers on the international stage.
This year no less than 16 international drivers will compete in six different classes against Australian drivers, as well as a class exclusively for V8 Super Car drivers.
International drivers include, five-time world champion Davide Fore, New Zealand international Daniel Bray and the young Dutchman Marijin Kremers.
And among it all on the junior stage are Josh and Tom from Young.
Josh will compete in the international KA12 class while Tom will be in the KA junior class.
Neither have ever raced in these classes before, which apart from a few minor changes to their karts, they will use the sticky compound Dunlop DFH tyre for the first time.
This, combined with the long front straight at the 1125 metre Xtreme Karting complex at Pimpama - which will see the elite KZ2 class reach speeds in excess of 160 km/h - should see the boys far exceed the 100km/h speeds they are used to on the shorter race circuits.
Josh will also be participating in the parade through the streets of the Gold Coast with the V8 Super Car drivers after the race meeting.
Both boys are keen to go and are looking forward to the opportunity that Karting Australia has extended to them to partake in such a prestigious event.
Josh comes off some recent solid race results including his race win in Round 2 of the NSW State Championships in Dubbo.
He was very unlucky not to take out the state series in the final round in Lithgow, where a first corner crash in heat 1 saw him out of the race and costing him 18 points.
He then missed out on the championship by one point after the final race.
Tom has also had some sound results recently with wins in the final round of the NSW State Championships in Lithgow, a victory at the Australasian Championships in Victoria, and taking out his seventh consecutive victory in the annual five-round NSW Southern Star Series.
