Ken Smith died in a truck accident and two other people were injured after a heavy vehicle rolled, north of Dubbo on Saturday, May 26, 2018.
The heavy vehicle, carrying a load of horses, was travelling on Mogriguy Road near the intersection of McAnallays Road at Brocklehurst.
The truck left the road and rolled into a culvert.
Police say a man aged 64, died in the accident.
The driver aged 32 and a teenage boy passenger 16 were both injured.
Police say one of the injured passengers was airlifted from the scene with suspected head and chest injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to a hospital for further medical checks.
Chief Executive Harness Racing NSW John Dumesny passed his condolences on to the family.
“It is with sadness that I extend my condolences on behalf of the Board of Harness Racing NSW and the Industry at large to Sue Smith and her family on the tragic passing of her husband Ken,” he said.
“Ken who was an institution in the harness racing fraternity especially in the Young district lost his life in a motor vehicle accident.
“The condolences of the Industry are also extended to their families and friends.”
Peter Shumack, president of the National Cutting Horse Association Australia, also shared his condolences for the Smith family.
Police are working with other Government departments regarding the horses.
