Mixed results for Canowindra Tigers

Canowindra Tigers take have had mixed results over the weekend when they hosted Oberon and Orange United on Sunday 11 May.

In the first grade, Canowindra took on Oberon and opened strong with a few big hits as both sides sized each other up.

Oberon drew first blood with a try next to the goal posts in the 12th minute, which was also converted.

They kept up the pressure after this try for the next 10 minutes and secured a second try in the 19th minute of the match.

The Tigers turned on the defense to hold off Oberon and make a play themselves, though Oberon still had a lot of momentum in much of the first half.

This momentum allowed Oberon to get a third try in the 36th minute to lead 18-0 and hold that lead into the half time break.

Coming in to the second half, Oberon kept up the pressure, but Canowindra held them off with some good defence and went on the offence getting within metres of Oberon's line before knock on caused a change in possession.

Canowindra increased their momentum to score a try in the 56th minute by Duwanye Mariner to bring the score to 18-6.

Canowindra kept up the pressure on Oberon to score again, with Bailey Kennedy getting across the line in the 58th minute to bring the score to 18-10.

Andrew Bennett wrapped up Canowindra's third try eight minutes later to bring the score to 18-16.

Canowindra kept up the pressure for the rest of the game, with several runs at the line, however Oberon kept up a solid defence to keep their lead and finish the game 18-16.

In the league tag match, Canowindra had a strong 26-4 win over Oberon, with tries to Laura Price, Lily Bannan and Annabelle Pull.

Canowindra Tigers hosted a strong Orange United in the youth league, with Orange winning 28-12. Kaiden Cole and Riley Williams scored for Canowindra.
