About 12.10am a group of approximately 20 people had left a Boorowa Street hotel when a scuffle broke out between several people.
Police say a 40-year-old man stepped in between two of the people and was assaulted and knocked to the ground suffering a suspected dislocated/fractured ankle.
An ambulance was called and attended to treat the man.
The injured male was taken to Young District Hospital and shortly after transferred to Wagga for further treatment.
While police were speaking with witnesses, another altercation broke out further up Boorowa Street and they were required again to intervene.
Police were told that two of the persons involved in the scuffles had also been involved in incidents inside the hotel earler in the night.
Enquiries are continuing into the incident.
Police would like to remind all licensees and managers that it is an offence under the Liquor Act 2007 to have an intoxicated person in a licensed premises.
This is a strike offence which will result in conditions being placed upon the Liquor Licence. It is also an $1100 monetory fine.
Any bar staff caught serving an intoxicated person will also incur a $550 monetary fine.
With the amount of incidents police have had to deal with in Young over the last few weeks as a result of late night trading, the hotels in Young can expect further attention from police and infringement notices will be issued with any breaches of the Liquor Act detected.
