Four Young golfers, one a member of the golf committee at the Harden Country Club, were among the 212 golfers who competed in the 24th annual Australian Two-man Ambrose Championships on the weekend.

Geoff Walker, Ian Broderick and Steve Dewar of the Young Golf Club and Craig Filmer of the Harden Country Club competed in the championships, which is the longest running annual Australian-wide open ambrose tournament, outdoing even the Holden Scramble.
The Harden Country Club hosted the two-day event that had the support of major sponsors to the tune of over $5200.
In magnificent spring conditions the 212 golfers teed-up each day on the superbly manicured Harden Country Club golf course which was in immaculate condition.
Representatives from Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, Victoria, ACT and NSW all travelled to be part of this hugely successful tournament.
Winners this year were the pairing of James Crockett and James Stephenson from Queanbeyan Golf Club who shot a sterling 20 under par for the weekend, only two off the tournament record.
Runners-up this year were former champions on several occasions, Cootamundra pairing of Brett Lange and Darrell O’Keefe, three shots further back.
B Grade champions were Harden locals Mathew Schofield and Tom Darmody while runners-up were Craig Filmer of Young and Greg Knight from Moruya.
In the veterans, Peter Town and Andrew Jamieson of North Ryde prevailed.
Country Club president and former Illawarra Steelers and St George Dragons rugby league player, Shane McKellar, said he was so full of pride for how successful the tournament is and the very generous partnership between the Country Club and the North Coast Holiday Park Group.
NCHP Group representative Ian Kinleyside and president Shane confirmed that the partnership is strong for next year being the milestone 25th year.
President Shane thanked the whole team at the club, from the staff right through to the organising committee and volunteers, for the hard work put in to make this tournament the continued success it was.
Nominations are booked out three months in advance every year and it was now hard work to secure your place such is the popularity.
“Next year’s tournament should be the biggest and best yet and it really puts our little community on the map,” Shane said in his speech at the tournament presentation on Sunday evening.
