Carl Neilson’s reckless wounding charge was listed for sentence at Young Local Court on November 18 but he failed to appear.
Local magistrate Peter Dare SC convicted him in his absence and issued a warrant for his arrest.
According to police facts tendered to the court, on April 21, Neilson was one of two men charged over fight at a local hotel that landed two men in hospital.
Neilson’s victim was made aware of the fight and came to his brother’s aid, who was being assaulted by five men.
As he ran over to try to break-up the fight, he was struck on his head with a bottle, which smashed on impact.
The victim said he saw Neilson out of the corner of his eye just before he was glassed.
The attack split the skin on his forehead, causing him to bleed profusely.
Police have been unable to track Neilson down since the warrant for his arrest was issued and have released an image of the man.
Neilson is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 185cm tall, about 85kg and of a thin build. He has blonde hair and blue/grey eyes.
