Young Shire Council’s Operations manager Dirk Wymer said tenders had been sought for work to the amenities blocks at both ovals, but the high costs of the tenders were considered a barrier to the developments.
“We were working with the sporting associations to provide a best of kind scenario at both ovals,” Mr Wymer said.
“But essentially we can’t afford to build what they require.”
So it’s back to the design table to see if the solution lies in a staged program of works or whether cost efficiencies could be effected through different materials and components, Mr Wymer said.
Council will investigate the opportunity to establish a primitive camping area for intinerant workers, thanks to a motion from Ian McAlister, at the recent economic development committee meeting.
