Work started this week on the Olympic Highway, six kilometres north of Young as part of a $1.45 million project to improve safety in the area.

Member for Cootamundra, Katrina Hodgkinson made the announcement earlier this week.
She said work will be carried out to realign the curve of the road and improve the intersection with Apps Lane, to give motorists better visibility as they travel on to the highway.
“Safety barriers will be installed along with improvements to the road surface to provide a smoother and safer journey for motorists,” Ms Hodgkinson said.
“Additional signage and clearer line markings will also be placed along the road to provide better guidance for motorists regarding the road’s conditions.
Work will be carried out from Tuesday, April 26 through to the end of June, weather permitting.
Working hours will be 7am to 5pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 1pm Saturday.
Changed traffic conditions will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists including a reduced speed limit and traffic controls.
