THE Burrangong Bears put in a solid effort all around on the weekend as they made the treck to Peak Hill to take on the Roosters.
In First Grade the Bears continue to close in on their first win of the season despite going down 16-26 on Sunday.
Burrangong went into half time up 16-6 with tries to Josh Fogg, Benny Wallwork and Luke Poulton. Two from three tries were converted by Josh Logue.
The Bears would remain on 16 points for the rest of the game with two tries disallowed.
Once again losing a player to the sin bin proved costly for the Bears.
Points to Benny Wallwork (3), Jay Moy (2) and Players Player Brett Campbell (1).
In league tag the Bears recorded their second consecutive win with a 12-nil score line.
Coach Darcy Ballard said the girls are starting to put training into play, with strong defence, speed and plenty of line breaks contributing to the win.
"Our defence is getting stronger and we've improved immensely,” he said.
“We're starting to gel as a team and with hard work and training we'll only keep improving"
Tries went to captain Crystal Collier and Kiara Freeman, both converted by Collier.
The girls now sit eighth on the ladder.
Points to Katy Ross (1), Nicola Hambilton (2) and Trudi Summerfield (3).
Next week the Bears take on Manildra at Cranfield Oval. League tag kick off at 12.50pm, followed by First Grade at 2pm.
