Last Saturday at the golf club all players started their competition round from the first tee with hitoffs from 7am to 1pm. It seemed to have worked well with the men and ladies playing in their respective events. It is permissable for both the men and ladies to play in the one group if that suits and still play in their respective competitions. The change will see social players welcome from 1pm and hopefully this might encourage more participation in this social area. This will also be in place on Wednesdays.

Saturday’s event was sponsored by Matt Williams and Mick Kentwell and somehow or other a 'gremlin' got in the system and the scheduled event, a 4 ball multiplier was not played. I know both Mick and Matt were not happy and I accept that we need to do things better. On Sunday we had a good number of players represent the club at Harden in the Scott Fuller event but at this time I am unable to report any details.
Next Saturday will see the December Monthly Medal event sponsored by Keith Simmons Engineering and with the new 'tee off' system in play golfers will be able to play early then attend the Cherry Festival street procession and carnival. On Saturday night we are hosting the Cherry Festival poets night in Gleneagles with a 6.30pm/7.00pm sharp starting time. Tickets are available from the Tourist Bureau for $15 each.
On Sunday we are hosting the Cherry Festival Cup event sponsored by Allied Grains System and John White. This is an 'open' two (2) person ambrose with a shot gun start at 11.00am. Non members are welcome to participate and they will be given a provisional handicap for the day.
The Rotary club are doing a sausage sizzle, the cost is $25 per player. Major prizes will be Christmas Hams and Christmas Puddings. This is a fundraiser to support Rotary who in turn support the local mens postate support group. Intending players should contact the pro. shop on 6382 1543 to book a spot.
Keep in mind the Christmas Hampers competition set for December the 10th sponsored by Milnes Country Ctyle Meats and Arryn Murfitt.
Don't forget that the weekly 9 hole comp. may be played on any day and finally Bryce has set aside Tuedays and Thursday for coaching. Also keep in mind that the course has dried up sufficiently for play to return to 18 holes and so handicapping will also resume.
