Thorp and fellow local, travelling and training buddy, Hayden Tyrell, made the long trip to Hay last weekend for the annual Australian Pro Rodeo event where both men won in separate events.
Tyrell scored himself a win in the bareback bronc ride and came in second to Thorp in the bull riding.
“Yeah, Hayden and myself both had a good weekend,” Thorp said.
Tyrell and Thorp both competed in Penrith last week at the Extreme Bull Rodeo and the Wagga Rodeo the week before, where Tyrell had great success.
Both men have set their sights on the finals later this year and with both their wins they look to be in good standing to make it all the way.
The wins have pushed both the locals up in the rankings and closer to qualifying for the finals towards the end of the year.
