Once a fortnight during the school term Cornerstone Community Kitchen provide dinner and dessert to anyone who walks through the door.
Meals are offered at no cost regardless of circumstance, background, financial means, religion or ethnicity.
“Attendance numbers currently range from about 15 up to about 25,” Cornerstone Community Kitchen Chairperson Melinda Lattimore said.
“Providing this service costs approximately $2,000 per year.
“We rely on the generosity of our local community and businesses to provide and hopefully grow this service.”
Cornerstone Community Kitchen said it costs $125 to sponsor an evening to provide a main and dessert for those who need it.
“Your contribution can be simply financial or you can turn it into a team event and volunteer together,” Melinda said.
Anyone interested in sponsoring an evening is asked to email their business name, logo and a preferred date to sponsor.
Volunteers will be required to help out with meal preparation, setup, service and clean up. Shifts are managed using an online roster where shifts can be selected. All volunteers are required to have a current working with children check. Up to five people can be nominated to volunteer as a team, two are required to have WWCC.
To volunteer email cornerstonecommunitykitchen@gmail.com with names and contact details.
