A Grenfell Man represented himself in Young Local Court when he faced charges of driving with an illicit drug present in his system.

Michael Ryan was convicted, fined $200 and disqualified from driving for three months by Magistrate Peter Dare after he pleaded guilty.
Ryan said it was “a very stupid decision that has put my work in jeopardy,” over the incident.

According to police facts the 37-year-old has a long history of drug related offences.
Police said about 2.26 pm on Thursday September 8 a red Diahatsu driven by Ryan was stopped by Police on Lovell St, Young for the purpose of a Random Breath and Drug Test.
Ryan’s breath test result was negative. Ryan was then subjected to an oral fluid test which produced a positive detection for Methamphetamines.
Ryan was arrested for the purpose of a secondary oral fluid test and take to Young Police Station.
According to police Ryan provided a sample of oral fluid sufficient for analysis. The sample was tested and returned a positive reading for methamphetamines.
The remainder of the sample was sent to NSW Forensic and Analytical Science Service in Lidcombe for analysis.
“Yeah, I took some on the weekend,” Ryan told police.
The sample of oral fluid was analysed and returned a positive result for Methamphetamines and cannabis.
