Race one
The opening event resulted in a win for the Shane Hillier trained pacer Thats Fire Power who recorded his fourteenth win in his long career.
Driven by Cameron Hart, the $3,000 claimer ran home strongly over the concluding stages to defeat the more fancied recent Bathurst winner Allnight Mlady with Shane Hillier providing third place getter in Royal Deviate.
The mile rating of 2:00.9 was a convincing win for the Yanco trained gelding.
Race two
The second race of the night resulted in a convincing win for the resuming Bathurst pacer Lucy Lamb who had not raced since finishing last at Parkes on January 11.
Sent out a short priced favourite ($1.30) the daughter of Flightpath recorded a resounding 23 metre win over the locally trained Soho Beijing for Ian Butt with Paddy Mach for Amanda Turnbull finishing third.
Race three
Eglington trainer and regular supporter of the Young club, Nathan Hurst drove a well judged race in the third of the night with a close win, leading throughout with Spanish Lustre.
A winning margin of ½ neck over the locally trained Franks Fortune and Edge Of The Starzz, the mile rating of 1:59.8 was a reflection once again of the standard of both horse and driver.
Yanco trainer Shane Hillier continued his success when he again provided Cameron Hart with another winner behind the seven year old gelding Captain Cooney.
Race four
Starting from barrier one, Captain Cooney posted his seventh win in defeating Bundaburra and Poco Aces in a mile rating of 2:01.5.
Unfortunately in that race, four horses failed to completed the 2100 metre event due to an incident at the 500 metre mark, fortunately all horses and drivers were unhurt in the incident.
Race five
The Yanco tsunami continued in race five with again Shane Hillier providing the winner in another polemarker, Resounding driven by Blake Jones.
The three-year-old Mach Three filly recorded her first win from only six starts and looks to have a bright future.
Matt Rue drove second placegetter Lucky Lyla a good race but found the winner too good with Mako Bay again finishing third for the second time in a week for local trainer Glenn Wilmot.
Race six
It was Cameron Harts turn to claim the prize in race six for Shane Hillier when Drunken Jeff came home strongly over the concluding stages to defeat Glenburn Anna and Poppy Cee.
Although the winning margin was just a head, the win was indeed an exciting race to watch, the run of Poppy Cee was certainly a “Black Booker” after tailing off in the early stages of the race.
Race seven
Glenn Wilmot finally had a change of fortune in race seven when his three-year-old gelding Twentyeightblack outstayed the opposition in taking out the penultimate event defeating Tulhurts Cash and Big In America for Mat Rue and Gemma Hewitt.
A winning mile rate of 2:02.9 and a margin of 1¾ metres gave the son of Courage Under Fire his fifth win from 22 starts with hopefully more to come.
Race eight
The final race of the evening went to the Art Major two year old gelding Peat Green for Gemma Hewittt and driver Mat Rue.
Having only his third start in a race, the APG graduate led throughout in defeating Sevendaysaweek for Matthew Harris with Pismo Beach for soon to be local trainer Luke Primmer finishing third.
Next race meeting
Young will race again this Friday afternoon followed by another afternoon meeting on July 21.
Fields will appear in Friday’s Young Witness.
