Conditions for the Zone 8 Champion of Club Champions Pairs varied from very windy and cold on Saturday to sunny, warm and calm on Sunday.
On Saturday Mike Barber and Ron Johnson (South Western) 23 defeated Allen Ross and Stephen Broad (Albury) 20 and Greg Gibson and Barry Dunn (Southern Slopes) 18 defeated Colin Plater and Bill Bishop (Wagga) 15.
The Sunday morning games saw Mike Barber and Ron Johnson 26 defeat Tim and Keith Crampton (Southern Highlands) 17 and John King and Neville Cullen (Riverina) 23 defeat Greg Gibson and Barry Dunn 17.
The outcome of the final was probably decided early in the game when John and Neville won 7 of the first 8 ends to lead 14–1. Mike and Ron cut the deficit to 5 shots at one stage but the final score was 22–12 in favour of John King and Neville Cullen.
Jackpot Bowls
There were sixteen players who braved the cold and windy conditions to play Jackpot Bowls on Saturday afternoon.
The Penrose Funerals sponsored vouchers went to Albert Carter and Les Fanning with a winning margin of 13 shots.
Other winning teams were David Donges and Peter Slater (8 shots), Stewart Taylor and Ian Schofield (7 shots) and Andrew Hutchison and Colin Powell (5 shots).
Just 8 players were involved on Sunday morning. David Donges and Albert Carter had the very good score of 17 points.
Quandialla’s President’s Day
Thanks to the players who represented the club and the district at Quandialla’s President’s Day on Sunday. There was perfect weather for the day and as always very good company at the Quandialla club.
The cold wind deterred many players on Thursday afternoon and only 12 players took part. Milan Brankovic and Les Fanning won the vouchers for the day with a winning margin of 9 shots.
All bowling members are advised that copies of the club’s Annual Report are available for collection at the club.
Charity Challenge
Information concerning the Guy Pickering Charity Challenge will be on display at the club during the week and at various businesses in the town. Players are reminded that entries for the Club Fours Championship close on Sunday September 24.
