“On behalf of the Young Hospital Auxiliary, could I please publicly thank Robert Donges who generously and graciously allowed us to conduct our Mothers’ Day Stall in IGA on Friday,” Young Hospital Auxiliary president Janice Ward said.

“We were in a real predicament with the terrible weather predicted, and the only two spots anyone is allowed to have a stall in Young being in front of Westpac and the Building Society, neither with enough cover from the rain.”

Mrs Ward and the group were concerned the weather would damage the handwork, cooking and beautiful raffle prizes that were a part of its stall. There was also a concern for volunteers and customers being out in the wet and cold.

“Young is very fortunate to have such a public spirited person as Robert, and we sincerely thank him,” Mrs Ward said.

As a result of the Mother’s Day stall and the change of location the Young Hospital Auxiliary were able to raise $1204 from the sale of items, cooking and plants as well as $475 in raffle ticket sales.

“This was in addition to $995 worth of raffle tickets we had already sold in IGA,” Mrs Ward said.

“Thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets, and to our raffle donors The Loft, Poppa’s Fudge Factory, Powderly’s Pumping, Turners’ Furniture, Regency Jewellers, Annie’s Full House, Doreen Sheehy and the Auxiliary. Thanks also to members of the public who added to the collection of goodies for sale.”

Mrs Ward was also very gracious to the Auxiliary members as well.

“I would also like to thank members of the Auxiliary for the big effort they put in, to make this a success. Proceeds will purchase items for the hospital, including an alarm mat for patients at high risk of falls.”
