Local couple Max and Robyn Mara took it upon themselves to generously donate their time and money to giving the Bimbi World War I War Memorial a new lease on life by having it carefully and lovingly restored.
Mr and Mrs Mara organised to have the names on the monument re-engraved and set by Penrose and Sons Funerals in Grenfell.
The couple also approached Weddin Shire Council and organised for a new door to be provided for the toilet block near the memorial.
On top of all of that Mr and Mrs Mara also repainted the fence at the Bimbi Memorial bringing back the honour the fallen of the area deserve.
The Memorial at Bimbi is very special to both Mr and Mrs Mara as Mrs Mara’s father, Norman Carr, has been immortialised on the memorial.
The community of Bimbi have thanked Max and Robyn for their very generous donation and appreciate all the hard work and organisation they have put into the project.
The finialisation of the restoration will coincide with the up coming 100th commemoration of the end of World War I on Remembrance Day, Sunday November 11, 2018 at 11am.
