Sargent was competing in the final round of the NSW Formula Ford Championship at Sydney Motorsport Park, and in a performance typical of his season, the weekend was one of rapid improvement; after qualifying second and finishing second in Races 1 and 2, Sargent took victory in Race 3 to also claim the overall round honours.
The result saw Sargent finishing second overall in the NSW Formula Ford Championship – well and truly the highest-placed rookie driver in the field.
“It was another weekend where we kept improving, with both the car and my driving,” Sargent said.
“To finish the season with a win is definitely the perfect way to round out such a fantastic first season in car racing.”

In addition to his second-place finish in the NSW Championship, Sargent also received several awards for his outstanding performances in the Australian Formula Ford Championship.
Sargent received the Hard Charger award for his strong drives and was also presented with the Most Improved Driver award at the end of the year.
“It’s quite humbling to receive those accolades in my first season, and I’d like to thank all the people who have supported me,” Sargent said.
“As well as the sponsors like Tegra Australia and Sloanebuilt Trailers who have generously assisted with my campaign this season, I’d especially like to thank the CHE Racing Team, Cameron and Colin Hill for giving me an awesome car, and providing such a comfortable environment for me to keep learning and improving.
“I’d also like to acknowledge my family and friends for their support, and all the Formula Ford competitors and officials for making me feel so welcome.
“I can’t wait to have a full crack at the national series next year, bring it on!”
