Team Gym is one of the nearly emerging disciplines in gymnastics.
An event was held at the Sydney Gymnastics and Aquatic Centre in Rooty Hill and showcased over 50 teams from around NSW and Canberra over the weekend of November 17 and 18.
“We were very lucky to have two teams qualify to compete at this high class event,” Michelle Robertson said.

Twenty-one gymnasts ranging from nine to 17 years of age were fortunate enough to be members of the teams which compete on three apparatus – mini-tramp, tumbling and a floor display – which must include acrobatic elements.
As this is a team event gymnasts must show good teamwork as well as good technique. Both are judged.
The novice team, The Blue Warriors, consisted of Angelic Sutherland, Shania McKinnon, Sarah Miller, Imogen Sutherland, Matilda Harrison, Monica Taylor, Matilda Foster and Ashleigh Hampton.
“These girls did some lovely routines to score themselves a silver medal. Congratulations girls, fantastic,” Michelle said.
The intermediate team, The Looney Toons, was made up of 12 girls including Grace Taylor, Rachel Dorman, Shannon Robertson, Jesse Cummings, Stephanie Cunnington, Abbie Grant, Taygan Collins, Sarah McDonald, Eliza Taylor, Millie Hyam, Charlotte Cockburn and Anna Cockburn.

“A wonderful effort by the girls also secured themselves a silver medal,” Michelle said.
“This marvellous achievement could not have been possible without the weekly dedication to training from these gymnasts.
“Thank you to everyone who travelled with their children for this event and those who have helped throughout the year both in the gym and at the competitions.”
The gymnastics club is now looking forward to an even better year and more success in 2019.
