However, the reality was far more scientific with a 2.8 magnitutde earthquake shaking the region at 9.28am.
The epicentre of the quake was located within a couple of kilometers in the hills on the south-east side of the town according to the Australian Government's Geoscience Australia.
The location of the epicenter is hard for Geoscience Australia scientists to clarify as there is only one seismic device in Young, according to one scientist the organisation relies on other monitors in Canberra and Sydney to try and locate the epicenter.
Originally the quake was measured as a three on the Richter scale, however it was downgraded a few hours later, which, according to a spokesperson from the agency, is " common for it to be revised later."
Not everyone in the town felt the earth shift with only small sections of the central business district reporting feeling the tremor.
According to the interactive map on Geoscience Australia and comments on Facebook the majority of residents that felt the quake either resided at the top of hills or along the side of them.
Most interesting of all was that the largest number of residents that reported feeling or hearing the event live on the north side of town, with only a few residents closest to the epicenter on the south side reporting movement or sound.
Bella Rostum Pour started a thread on the Facebook page Young NSW Community Group asking locals if they knew what the 'shake' was on the north side of Young.
Residents quickly jumped on the thread in response.
"Think [it's] an earthquake. Felt in Hills St too," Danyell Edwards commented.
"Felt and heard [on] Moppity Rd," Scott Rush posted.
There were reports from Petticoat Lane, Dananbilla Drive, Melville Street, Blackett Avenue and Murringo Road.
While other's saw the lighter side of the event with some residents posting a photo of a chair fallen over with the tag line "2019 Young Earthquake, we will rebuild."
Though the big question on everyone's lips is will there be any more tremors?
"We wouldn't expect any further episodes," a Geoscience Australia spokesperson said.
"Although we can't rule out more or a larger earthquake in the years ahead, or nothing at all."
9.45am
A magnitude 3 earthquake has shaken Young and surrounding areas on Tuesday morning.
Many people took to social media when they heard the rumble and felt the ground shake about 9.30am, before the Seismology Research Centre and Geoscience Australia confirmed the earthquake.
The Seismology Research Centre updated its preliminary location of the incident from 50km north east of Young to two kilometres east of the Young CBD.
"There was a magnitude 3 earthquake at Young at approximately 9.28am," a spokesperson for Geoscience Australia said.
Rachel Louise was one person who shared on Facebook what she went through.
"I thought the house was going to fall apart. It was loud and completely shook the house," she wrote.
More to come.
