The former State Coordinator for Multicultural Liaison in Parramatta and Coordinator of the Security Management Unit, whose key job was to protect key government buildings, has moved with his wife and four children to Young to take on the Officer in Charge position at Young Police Station.
Inspector Reeves is taking the reins from Acting Inspector Michael Madgwick.
"We wanted to make the tree change and I liked the role," Inspector Reeves said of the move.
According to Inspector Reeves his wife and kids are settling into country life "very well".
"The school has been great for the kids," he said.
Inspector Reeves was born in Liverpool and grew up around the Campbelltown area.
He joined the NSW Police Force following in his father's footsteps, and now with 20 years experience as a police officer, Inspector Reeves is excited to begin his tenure as the Officer in Charge of the Young Police Station.
Inspector Reeves believes that moving from the city to the bush wouldn't mean he'll be any less busy.
"It's a different type of busy," he said.
Inspector Reeves said his key focus for the community is on communication and prevention with mental health at the top of his priority list, both the mental health of his staff and members of the community.
"I'd like to thank Mick (Madgwick) for the great work that he's been doing and I hope that I can step up and meet the standards he has set," Inspector Reeves said.
Inspector Reeves is very eager to get to work at the Young station as well as getting to know the community both on a personal and professional level.
Outside of work, he is a fan of the National Rugby League following the ninth-placed Wests Tigers after growing up Campbelltown where they would train and play.
He also has a keen interest in four wheel driving and travelling.
