Captain-coach Nick Bush said his side is aiming to redeem themselves after they were eliminated following back-to-back losses in last year's finals series.
"We had a very big chance last year but didn't close it out. This year we have the side," he said.
Young has won nine of their 12 games this season, lost two and were held to a 6-all draw with Gundagai back in round two.
It leaves the Cherrypickers sitting pretty in second place with six regular rounds remaining, three points outside leaders Southcity Bulls.
Bush said winning the minor premiership is something his side has in their sights.
"We'd definitely love to win the minor premiership, it's a goal. It's realistic if we keep going the way we are, and we have a crack at Southcity in a few weeks," Bush said.
Bush has been mostly impressed with the attitude of his players, something he says can be hard to find.
He also identified Gus Smith, Matt Murray, Harry Nowlan, Stewart James, Trent Veney and Will Manwaring as standouts so far this season.
"It's a good feeling to have a group of players that turn up and play for each other each week, it can be hard to find," he said. Their run home includes games against bottom three sides Temora, Junee and Tumut, and top five sides Southcity, Albury and Cootamundra.
"We're still taking it one week at a time. You can't get ahead of yourself in reserve grade, anyone can beat anyone on any given week."
Young plays Temora on Sunday.
