Six cadets from brigades in the Young area represented South West Slopes Zone at the seventh bi-annual Championships held on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Wesley Vision Valley Sport and Recreation Centre at Arcadia, Sydney.
The cadets were Sam Dunn, Eithan Dovern, Brady Noyes, Ben Williams, John Cass and Hamish Green.
Point scoring at the championships rewards consistency through the eight scored tasks.
South West Slopes Zone finished with two seconds and a third which helped guide them to first place.
Coordinator Samuel Tout said teamwork, leadership and problem solving were key areas of focus during 14 days of training in the six months leading up to the championships.
"If they don't work as a team it can be very hard to compete," Mr Tout said.
"Attitude is important. You need to be able to focus on the next task in the right fame of mind."
The cadets are part of Boara, Young, Murringo, Monteagle, Bendick Murrell and Maimuru rural fire service brigades.
It was a second title for Sam Dunn who was part of the winning team in 2017.
South West Slopes has now won the Australian titles in 2011, 2017 and 2019.
