Police were called to the Olympic Highway near Wallendbeen after the 60-year-old man fell from his bike while allegedly performing a u-turn about 2.25pm on Monday, October 21.
The man was subjected to a breath test which returned a negative result. However, he failed a sobriety assessment and police say inquiries showed his driver's licence was disqualified.
He was arrested for blood and urine testing and search. Police allege the search revealed a set of knuckle dusters capable of delivering an electric shock.
He was taken to Young Hospital for testing and was issued a court attendance notice for driving disqualified and possession of a prohibited weapon. He'll face Young Local Court on November 13.
Inspector Jacob Reeves of Young Police said prohibited weapons in the community won't be tolerated.
"Young Police advise the public that possessing or carrying a prohibited weapon will not be tolerated and will result in legal action being taken. We are committed to a safe community and will take immediate action to remove prohibited weapons from our streets," Inspector Reeves said.
- Break and enter
Police are appealing for information from the public after a break-and-enter at the Rural Fire Service depot at Tubbul, about 35kms west of Young.
Entry was gained by unknown persons between Friday, October 18 and Monday, October 21. No property has been stolen, however the building will be forensically examined, police say. Anyone who witnesses suspicious behaviour across the weekend or who may have information is urged to contact Young Police on 6382 8199 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
