The wards of Young Hospital are definitely bustling with the sounds of babies.
Young Hospital staff have welcomed ten babies in just six days, bringing the total up to 126 for the year, with 19 delivered in October alone.
Five boys, and five girls were born between 22-28 October, to ten very excited families.
Young Facility Manager Belinda Downey said local staff have been kept busy with all the new arrivals.
"All the activity this week has kept us on our toes. Several of the babies were a little earlier than expected, and they are all doing well," Belinda said.
"It is rewarding to see us able to give mothers such a high level of care in Young."
The recent maternity ward activity included two caesarean births.
Midwifery Manager for Murrumbidgee Local Health District Sandra Forde, said it has been a busy but exciting time for the local hospital.
"To have ten babies born in a week in Young is only likely to happen once every few years," Ms Forde said.
"It's certainly an extraordinary occurrence."
Expectant mothers can call the hospital when they know their due date, and make an appointment to book in for their birth.
"It's great to have local mothers booking in for their birth as it lets us plan support in advance," said Ms Forde.
"We have 13 babies due to arrive in November, so it will be another busy month."
Any expectant mothers are also more than welcome to call the midwives at the hospital to ask for advice or discuss any concerns they may be experiencing on 6382 8888.
