Organisers are busily finalising preparations ahead of the festival opening, as visitors flock to town for a taste of Young's famous cherries.

Cherry picking
The cherry harvest is well underway with pick-your-own orchards open and commercial orchards picking and packing fruit. The cherries are always a big drawcard with people everywhere, who travel from all parts of the globe to take part.
Good to see that there will be cherries available up until early January.
Catch the new acts
Don't forget to catch the new acts at the Woolworths 70 th National Cherry Festival next week.
Two that are new to the festival this year are Suds and Gumble and Phat Brass, both offering a fresh approach to festival entertainment. Suds and Gumble are a juggling act which will perform in the town centre after the close of the festival parade.
Phat Brass is a brass band street combo offering fresh funk-pop style beats and some super moves. And there are many other performers on stages and busking around the festival site.
Competitive art exhibition
The Cherry Festival Competitive Art Competition is an integral part of the festival and opens on Wednesday, December 4 at Young Town Hall at 7pm. The exhibition will be open throughout the festival.
Cherry King and Queen Contestants
Congratulations to our five cherry queen and king contestants this year, who have represented Young in such a positive way. Well done Laura Ower, David Munnerley, Tasman Coulter, Kate Cruickshank and Briannah Griffin. Each of them has embraced the competition, represented the region in Sydney and raised funds for worthy charities and the festival.
We appreciate your contribution to the festival.
